A Study Of The Image And Metaphor Of The Bridge In The Song Dynasty Paintings

This paper takes the bridge image appearing in the pieces of existing painting of the Song Dynasty as the object of study,and studies the general situation,distribution,characteristics and relevance with the theme and content of the bridge image in the paintings of the Song Dynasty to discuss the cultural significance and related issues of bridge images in combination with painting theory and painting history.This paper mainly focuses on the spatial structure of the bridge in the picture and its reflected purport,and examines the social changes of the Song Dynasty,the Five Dynasties,the Yuan Dynasty and the psychological changes of literati through the activities of the characters in the bridge area.The research method of this paper is to classify and investigate all images containing bridge elements in Song Dynasty paintings which refer to existing paintings and those mentioned in the description,so as to explore the close relationship between the specific meaning,form and content of bridge images in the context of such paintings.The bridges in these paintings are not only simple imitations of the bridge of reality,the vassals of rivers and scenes,but also rich in sociological and ethical meanings.Differences in social environment,level of economic development,different cultures,the trend of thought,the seclusion trend in a specific era,and the construction of the inner world of the literati are all reflected in the expression of the bridge image which can also reflect the rhythm of the history of landscape painting by transforming the role of the bridge image in the picture.This paper mainly discusses the bridge elements appearing in Song Dynasty painting from the following aspects: First,it sorts out the development of ancient Chinese bridges in real life and the application in aesthetic field.The main clue is the development of bridges in real life to the aesthetic and symbolic fields such as poems,gardens,and Buddhist metaphors,and then returns to painting.For the exploration of the bridge images appearing in the early portrait stone,portrait brick,and tomb mural,the meaning of the bridge began to sprout;Second,according to the bridge images in different categories,different paintings,such as landscape painting,genre painting,religious painting,they are classified and combed in the field of imagery and the vision quantified to make the information presented by the image is more clear,and the specific meaning of the bridge image is described in space,meaning,social prosperity.In space,it is notonly used to construct the ideal place of the literati doctor,the fairyland of "Hutian",but also uses bridges to divide different spaces,thus forming different cultural places,reflecting the near and far levels in the picture,and also the narrative language of painting and the symbol of the viewer's access to the painting environment;it reflects the mutual infiltration and reference between religion and Taoism,Confucianism,Buddhism and folk religion.It also shows the prosperous society and the scholars.Third,combining the two cultural spaces defined by the bridge,this paper reflects the different literati in the Song Dynasty,seclusion in the process of social atmosphere and form transformation according to the combination of the role played by the bridge image in the painting and the characters on the bridge,the style transformation of the painting between the two Songs is analyzed.Finally,due to the two different historical periods before and after the Song Dynasty,one was the Five Dynasties.Most of the Central Plains were caught in a scuffle,showing a political pattern of multiple small political powers.One was the Yuan Dynasty,ruled by the alien,and the Han were inferior.Such social atmosphere presents the differentiation of literary ideas in painting.The psychological distance between the real and the ideal world revealed in the works is explained,through the strong contrast between the "Bridges in the Song Dynasty" and the "bridgeless environment" of the five dynasties and the two turbulent periods.
