Phonetics is an important part of the Iinguistic knowledge as well as a foundation of the entire linguistic system.English phonetic teaching influences many linguistic competences.such as lexical mastery,listening comprehension and oral communication.As is pointed out in the English Curriculum Standard of compulsory education(2011 version),phonetic teaching is of great significance of the linguistic teaching.The natural and standard voice and tone will lay a good foundation for the efficient oral communication.Meanwhile,it clearly claims that the secondary goal of English phonetics for primary school graduates,and corresponding knowledge skills in pronunciation,stress,liaison,tone,rhythm,etc.Phonetic teaching for the high-grade in primary school is a teaching activity in which according to the curriculum standards and students,realsituation,teachers design proper teaching goals,select and manage the phonetic teaching content and apply various phonetic teaching methods,So as to make students understand the pronunciation and spelling rules of letter and letter combination in words,experiences the phonetic phenomena like sentential stress,liaison,rhythm and tone,improve students' abilities of spelling and memorizing words,and develop their oral communication abilities.This paper starts with the current situation of English phonetic teaching in primary school,hoping to know the current situation and shortcomings of primary school English phonetic teaching and put forward some countermeasures.Firstly,based on the investigation of the information about English phonetic teaching at home and abroad,I summary the results of English phonetic teaching,Secondly,I list the information about English phonetic teaching,including the meaning,characteristics,theoretical basis and so on;Through the analysis of the connotation and characteristics of English phonetic teaching,I determine the research of English phonetic teaching.The student level mainly includes the survey of students' phonetic needs and speech test,The teacher level mainly involves the status and importance of phonetic teaching for the high-grade in primary school,phonetic teaching goal,phoneticteaching ontent,phonetic teaching methodandphonetic teaching valuation.The following is to promote English phonetic teaching.I put forward suggestions and countermeasures from three perspectives: students,teachers,learning environments.Finally,it is the research conclusion,the lack of research and the prospect.The research results showed that: 1.The students lack motivation to learn;2.Students cannot overcome the influence of dialect;3.Teachers lack of recognition of phonetic teaching status and importance;4.inaccurate positioning of the phonetic teaching goal;5.sufficient phonetic teaching content,restriction to the textbook;6.Single phonetic teaching method,weak interactivity,and single phonetic teaching evaluation.In order to solve the problems in the questionnaires and interviews and to promote English phonetic teaching,I give some suggestions for students and teachers.For students,they need to enhance learning motivation and overcome dialect influence Then schools should assure the independent status of phonetic teaching and strengthen their organization and management;teachers should attach great importance to the bility and emotion objectives in phonetics,enrich the phonetic teaching method,improve students' involvement teaching evaluation content,pay and achieve attention to the interactivity of teaching diversification of subject and method of teaching valuation.
