Research On Verb State Complements And Related Issues

As a complement to the unique syntactic features of Chinese,state complement is a kind of prominent syntactic category.With regard to the composition of state complements,the basic view of academics is that adjectives can be used as state complements more freely,and verbs act as state complements,but there are few discussions about the specific choices and constraints of verbs as state complements.This thesis uses the verb state complement as the research object,trying to illustrate the characteristics and commonalities of verb state complements,the choice of differences and their motivations based on the study of typical cases.This thesis starts from the three planes of syntax,semantics and pragmatics,and uses cognitive grammar,subjectivity and other related linguistic theories to explore the verb state complement.The full text is divided into the following sections.Introduction: Clarify the research object and scope,expound the research status at home and abroad,and briefly describe the source of the corpus and the analysis method.Chapter One: the general introduction of verb state complement.It summarizes some basic laws and conditions of verb structure as a state complement.Chapter Two:the homogeneous state of continuous“X De Zhi VP(X??VP)”.This chapter firstly analyzes the structure of“X De Zhi VP(X??VP)”from the aspects of compositional properties and semantic performance,and then discusses the reason why“X De VP(X?VP)”removes“straight”and the acceptability is limited.This phenomenon is superficially The main reason for the influence of the number and rhythm of VP syllables is the syntactic and semantic constraints of the structure,which are characterized by persistence and self-sufficiency,multi-level and complexity,causality and iconicity,background information and syntactic constraints.Chapter Three:the initial state of the“X De(F)VP Qilai(X?VP??)”This chapter first analyzes the structural properties from the nature of the composition,and then examines the structural features from the semantic content,and compares and analyzes with"X straight VP".In this chapter,the core meaning of“X De(F)VP Qilai(X?VP??)”expresses an instant start,and the result of"V up"as a predicate is suppressed at the position of the complement,and the state meaning is highlighted.Then,from the pragmatic point of view,the pragmatic features of“X De(F)VP Qilai(X?VP??)”are analyzed.Chapter Four: the realization status “X De VP Le(X ? VP ?)”.This chapter starts from the perspective of the VP's constraints and the semantics and function of "Le(?)".It is argued that when the verb structure is added,it can be used as a state complement."Le(?)" in “X De VP Le(X ? VP ?)” syntactically makes the sentence true,semantically makes the action realize bounded,"VP" is an implementation state.Chapter Five:the instantaneous critical state“X De Yao VP(X??VP)”.This chapter discusses the characteristics and choice limits of“X De Yao VP(X??VP)”from three aspects:compositionality,semantic representation and pragmatic conditions."Yao(?)"and VP co-occurrence,indicating that the"destination"of understanding the modality makes the state of VP stand out,and"Yao(?)VP"expresses the instantaneous critical state.It can represent events that have not yet occurred,can also represent events that are unlikely to occur,and can also represent habitual events,summarizing their pragmatic conditions for non-realistic expressions.Chapter Six: The commonality of verb state complements and their differences in choice.This chapter combines the discussion of the previous four chapters to analyze the commonality and selection differences of several types of verb state complements from the aspects of form selection,semantic expression and selection motivation.Chapter Seven: Summarize the commonality and characteristics of the verb state complements reflected in several selected cases,pointing out the shortcomings of the research.
