This thesis mainly analyzes the state complement in modern Chinese. It includes syntactic dimension and semantic dimension. In the syntactic dimension, it mainly analyzes grammatical elements which serve as the state complement. It mainly includes verb or verbal construction, adjective or adjectival construction, subject-predicate structure, fixed phrase, "you" construction, nominal construction and pronoun etc.In the semantic dimension, it mainly explores the semantic orientations of the state complement and the influence to the transformation or change beyond different sentence patterns. The semantic of the state complement may orient subject(s), object (o) and predicative verb (v) or predicative structure which is composed of predicative verb (v). At the same time, the semantic orientations of the state complement influence the transformation or change beyond different sentence patterns. At last, according to the Theory of "Orient", "Item" and "Link" which addressed by Shao Jingmin, this thesis mainly analyzes the types of the state complement's semantic orientation. Owing to the grammatical characteristics and the syntactic position in the sentence, it only appears semantic single orientations of front directions and semantic double orientations of front directions. The single item of the state complement must be the state complement which is semantic single orientations of front directions, and the double items of the state complement must be the state complement which is semantic double orientations of front directions. At the same time, the existence of semantic link may reduce the ambiguity.
