The imperial examination system of China began at the beginning of Sui Dynasty and finally at the end of Qing Dynasty.During this long period of more than 1300 years,all kinds of literary forms,including Tang poetry and Song ci,note-taking novels,vernacular novels and so on,contain the shadow of imperial examination.Because of the difference of imperial examination system in different dynasties,new names or new meanings will be formed.At the same time,social psychology and scientific allusions derived from imperial examination culture also reflect people's ideas,attitudes and visions.It is of great value to study the new words and new meanings related to the imperial examination and the special words of scientific and textual allusions,which are of great value to linguistics and culturology.In this paper,the author firstly searches and sums up nearly 100 words from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty,classifies and discusses the word-forming morphemes,summarizes the vocabulary of the "top-of-the-list" meaning and summarizes its linguistic characteristics,and then discusses the meaning of the "top-of-the-list" from the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.At the same time,this article also collected the classical words related to the first meaning of imperial examination from the poems of the imperial examination of Tang and Song dynasties,and traced back the origin of the allusions used to praise the "top of the imperial examination",and analyzed the origin of the allusions used to praise the top of the imperial examination.In addition,according to the specific meaning of the words collected and combined with the actual application in ancient literature,reference is made to the Chinese Dictionary to make a comparison and correction.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is the analysis of the semantic morphemes of the imperial examination "top of the list".In the semantic field of imperial examination,we can sum up five words: "Kui" "Yuan" "Jia" "Shou" and "Tou" as the first word formation morpheme.This paper first analyzes the original meaning of each morpheme,and extends to the process of expressing "the first place" in the imperial examination,and then classifies and interprets the words according to the three-level system of the ancient imperial examination.The second chapter praises the top of the allusion.Referring to such authoritative dictionaries as Xin Yi,Cheng Zhiwei Dictionary of Chinese allusions,Fan Zhilin and Wu Gengshun Dictionary of the allusion of Poems in the whole Tang Dynasty,we combined the classical words with the exegesis to trace the source of the words and classify them according to the number of sounds.Explore the cultural connotation of imperial examination by understanding the source of vocabulary.The third chapter is "top-of-the-list" semantic vocabulary to help complement the Chinese Dictionary.In the light of the practical application of the "number one" meaning words collected in previous literature,the explanations given in the authoritative imperial dictionaries,such as the Chinese examination Dictionary and the Chinese Imperial examination Dictionary,are compared with each other.Find out where there are some problems in the collection of some words,so as to make a contrastive correction.It includes adding entries to the situation of missing items and adding meanings to the cases where the meaning is unknown or missing.In terms of research methods,the methods of quantitative statistics and descriptive analysis,synchronic and diachronic,linguistic research and cultural interpretation are adopted.Through the study of the related words of "top of the list" in imperial examination,the author finds out its unique linguistic value and cultural connotation.
