Between the discourse markers in modern Chinese, there are a lot of ones can regulate the force of the speaker’s discourse,so as to achieve the expected discourse goals of the speakers,so as to regulate the communicative effect. This kind of discourse markers is defined as locutionary performatives. We classify them in terms of the function, which can be divided into the kind of strengthening the force of discourse, weakening the force of discourse and judging by context. Also,we classify them in terms of the structure, which can be divided into “(I)+ VP”,“you + VP ”,and “negative VP”.By analyzing corpus,we analyze their frequency of use, syntactic distributions, contextual features, usage patterns and pragmatic functions. When analyzing the contextual features of different structural types,we found that although they have differences, they have something in common: before the speaker’s speech acts, something must have happen, and the coming discourse are associated with the act,and the force of discourse is not in conformity with the speaker’s presupposition.By analyze the use of locutionary performatives in different structural types,we find the usage frequency of “(I)+ VP”,which is the most frequently used among locutionary performatives, and we think the context is important to the use of locutionary performatives.Locutionary performatives can be in the beginning or the end of a sentence,or between clauses, also between sentences. And the usage frequency of being in the sentence-initial position is the highest.By locutionary performatives, the speaker make the communication be the effect of his presupposition,in the process of which,by strengthening or weakening the force of discourse, the locutionary performatives can express the attitude of the speaker, highlight the content of discourse, lead the listener to understand the discourse, coordinate interpersonal relationship, connect the context, and so on. |
