Interpretation Practice Report On "Facebook Workshop Cross-border E-commerce Advertising Exchange Conference"

This report is based on the writer's personal interpreting experiences with a conference on a campaign of cross-border e-commerce hosted by Facebook Creative Shop and Harbin Mamba Limited Liability Company on April 12 th in 2018.The task includes a consecutive interpretation for the representatives who provided a campaign data analysis of Facebook and an escort interpreting for the foreign designers from the Creative Shop.After the conference,the writer listened to the recordings again and translated them into an improved and better version.The report first introduces the details about the conference,such as the background and the requirements.Through analyzing the problems in interpretation,the writer realizes that an interpreter has the responsibility of delivering meanings,serving as a bridge between the Chinese and westerners.Thus,an interpreter should participate in conversations actively in particular situations,and employ his/her subjective initiative properly.A conclusion is drawn that an interpreter should have four qualities: the awareness of cross-cultural communication,the command of professional terms,the ability of simplifying a target language,and a quick response to emergency.By researching and discussing on the qualities required,the writer introspects and evaluates her performance,hoping that interpreters can understand the importance of these four qualities which are helpful to their future work.
