Staged photography,as an assist to 19th-century figurative paintinginitially,has played an important role in artistic creation at the beginning ofits birth.Moreover,before photography entered the modernist period,theposition and function of photography were mainly related to painting in theart.Photography imitates the theme and form of painting and it is used as arealistic assistant for painting on the other hand.Staged photography playsan important role between them because of the limitation of photographytechnology.By the 1970s and 1980s,the performance potential of stagedphotography had been discovered by many contemporary artists so it hadbecame a creative medium in contemporary art crossing the boundaries oftraditional documentary photography.The function of photography is notlimited to realism and reproduction as well.However,in the digital age,theway to obtain images has been constantly updated in the development ofscience and technology,and the creative content of photography and theboundary of the media have been innovated once again which lead to theimage culture becomes the mirror of the times.And the concept of stagedphotography is also given a new meaning.Rather than limited to cameras orobjects,it is closer to painting tracing in the staged of virtual software.Compared with painting,photography and image art have regressed again inthe way of creation which also leads to the innovation of image culture in thedigital age.Therefore,the study of the language of staged photography in thedigital age can not only comb the importance of staged photography in thedevelopment of art and comb how photography has entered intocontemporary art creation but also can discuss how to understand thecombination of technology and art and the development and application ofmedia in the creation of photography art and image art in the digital age.
