This paper takes the intermediate Chinese language students in the short-term Chinese language training program of CIEE Central University for Nationalities in the summer vacation in 2018 as the research object,focus on the word and sentence errors in their spoken language,with a view to finding out the rules and proposing strategies to reduce the occurrence of oral errors.The corpus collection mainly adopts from interview recording and daily practice.Through transcribing the recordings to sort out and analyze the errors.CIEE,the Council on International Educational Exchange,founded in 1947,is headquartered in Portland,Maine,USA,with staff in more than 40 countries around the world.Its mission is to help people better understand,master knowledge and develop skills so as to adapt to a more interdependent and culturally diverse world.Since the first institution was launched in Peking University in 1980,it currently has four learning centers in mainland China,which are located in Beijing,Shanghai and Nanjing.CIEE is the global leader in student exchange services·Each year,through various global exchange projects,it helps nearly 50,000 high school students,College students,young professionals and educators to develop their personal growth and potential.As an organization,CIEE is membership-based and non-profit.Its members are composed of nearly 300 academic institutions,which help CIEE project to set the tone and direction.In the summer of 2018,the author was internship in the CIEE program and served as Chinese tutor in CIEE intermediate class.So She had the opportunity to collect and analyze the oral errors of students in intermediate class and observe teachers,teaching behavior.For this reason,the author takes CIEE intermediate class students as the research object and analyzes their spoken errors.This paper mainly analyses students'oral errors from the level of words and sentences.The level of words mainly includes misuse of the word le,misuse of synonyms,misuse of clutches,misuse of negative adverbs bu and meiyou.The level of sentences includes two aspects:I sentence components and sentence patterns.The existing errors mainly include word order errors,Shi judgment errors,and Shi emphasizing sentence errors.Secondly,the author explores the causes of errors by comparing English and Chinese and using questionnaires,interviews and other forms.It is concluded that the learners' emotional factors,cognitive strategies,mother tongue influence and negative transfer of target language knowledge are the main reasons of oral errors.Finally,based on the above investigation and analysis,the thesis puts forward corresponding error-solving strategies from four aspects:oral teaching methods,teaching strategies,improving the effectiveness of traditional classroom and actively developing and utilizing online Chinese courses.For example,it establishes an App focusing on English-speaking proficiency.The preparation of App is aimed at reducing the spoken errors in language communication.In the course of the research,the author started to produce the oral-error database of language students in the CIEE Summer Project of Minzu University of China in 2018,so that the research can contribute to the development of the teaching Chinese as a second language.
