Fortitude And The Study Of Official Admonitions

Gangyi was a central minister in the late Qing Dynasty.He had been in the officialdom for nearly 40 years and had a very rich experience as an official.He was good at summarizing and reflecting,and compiled his political experience and lessons over the years on the basis of absorbing the achievements of predecessors.In his numerous works,this paper focuses on the analysis of the two official writings,the Mirror for Official and the Instructions for County Magistrates.These two writings are not only the summary of Gangyi's experience as an official,but also the embodiment of Gangyi's thought.They had become a reference guides for political work in the late Qing Dynasty.Today,they still have enlightenment significance for local administrative activities and the construction of official team.This article is divided into three chapters.Chapter one is a brief account of Gangyi's life.It mainly introduces his official career,remarkable achievements and main works,so that we can have a comprehensive understanding of his life trajectory.Chapter two introduces the Mirror for Official.This chapter elaborates the contents of the Mirror for Official,and according to its contents,from three aspects: the thought of minister,the thought of official administration and the thought of etiquette and law,it devotes a lot of space to discussing the moral norms of officials and the techniques and methods of dealing with affairs,such as: loyalty to the monarch,honesty in residence,selection of talents,prudent punishment,diligence in government and love for the people.And the thought contained in it is deeply analyzed.Chapter three introduces Gangyi's the Instructions for County Magistrates.This chapter gives an overall introduction based on the contents of the Instructions for County Magistrates,and interprets its contents from two aspects:thought of officials and the thought of documents.Firstly,this paper discusses the life of Gangyi.After having a comprehensive understanding of his whole political experience,it deeply analyses his main officialwritings,excavates the ideas and thought contained in them,and thus has a profound understanding of Gangyi and his official writings.
