A Study On The Ending Of Female Films In Mainland China In The New Century

In the new century,under the background of the market economy,Chinese women's movies have been rushing forward and sprang up a number of outstanding works.During this period that their works were running conflict with the film market environment and the pressure of commercial competition,Chinese mainland female directors adjusted their narrative strategies to adapt to the ever-changing film market contradictorily.The end of the women's film as an important part of the structure,is the time of conflict resolution,the period of characters developing to maturity,and the final stage of the theme sublimated.It is also the response to the audience's expectations.This paper selects and analyzes 14 female films of female directors in mainland China in the new century,to study the end of the new century female film from four aspects which are their theme,the way of their ending,the lens movement at their end,and the function of their ending.Through these analyzes,we will sort out the endings of new century women's films,summarize the characteristics of the women's film's end in this period,and provide a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese women's films from a new perspective.The study found that:First,The ending mode of female film in the new century changed from open end to closed end;second,The women in the female film ending experienced the escape from gender relationship,growth awakening,and returning to gender relationship;and lastly The collective disappearance of males at the end,women's liberation of subjective consciousness with the help of their own subjectivity or the help of same sex,has been turning to the passive reflection and awakening under the male's departure.
