The North American film market,as a global movie consumption vane and the transit point of film influence,is an important goal for every country in expanding its overseas film market.Since Hero was nominated for the Best Foreign Picture at the 75th Academy Awards in 2003,Chinese films have not been nominated for it over the years.Although the Oscars is not the only criterion for judging the quality of films,and it is not the only criteria for judging the quality of cross-cultural dissemination of films.However,the Oscars are highly influential in the world,and the selection rules of the best foreign pictures reflect the cross-cultural communication ideas of the participating countries and the mainstream values and aesthetics of North America,which can serve as a good reference for Chinese films to enter the North American market.This article analyzes the American film reviews of the best foreign language films selected by China in the 21st century through the famous American film rating websites Metacritic,IMDB,etc.,and studies the values and the different attentions to the details and contents of the film.It is thus found that although the cross-cultural communication process of China's "strive for the Best Foreign Picture”in different historical stages has its own characteristics,there is still common feedback.Although cultural differences are inevitable,China's "strive for the Best Foreign Picture" and other Chinese films should focus on the influence of awards and viewer decoding enhance the cross-cultural communication strategy,and play the cross-cultural communication value of the film.Dialogue and progress.
