Listening is not only an important way to acquire knowledge of language, but also a major channel for learning language. With the increasing use of multimodal theory and multimedia technology in foreign language teaching,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the influence of English video input and English audio input on English listening in foreign language listening. The latest reform in English curriculum requires the transformation of teaching concepts and teaching methods in the process of English teaching. Therefore,it is of great significance to apply multimodal theory to English listening teaching in senior high school. This thesis teases out the multimodal theory at home and abroad and the research results of English listening teaching in senior high school, and constructs a multimodal English listening video teaching model, including culture level, context level, meaning level, form level and media level. The research analyzes the influence of English videos on listening comprehension in English listening teaching. This thesis conducts an empirical study in Xingyi Middle School. The object of the research is 108 fresh students in senior high school, which are divided into high-level group and low-level group.Using questionnaires and comparison tests, data are obtained to analyze the impact of English videos on listening comprehension in English listening teaching. The questionnaire includes questionnaires for English teachers and questionnaires for high-level and low-level students. The comparison test mainly involves the influence of different input methods on English listening, including English content videos,English context videos and English audios. After research,it is found that: Firstly, for English content videos,English videos with high audio-visual relevance significantly improve the understanding rate of the students;low audio-visual relevance English videos also contribute to the overall understanding of the materials, but detailed understanding is not obvious for low audio-visual relevance English videos.English videos with high audio-visual consistency have higher function of low-level students than high-level students. This shows that English content video may reduce the discrimination of listening practice.Secondly, for English context videos,it is of use for the effects of lip and body language on listening, there was no significant difference in the audio-visual group, which means that the context videos do not significantly interfere with the listening test results. Therefore, context videos should be included in multimodal listening teaching.Based on the research results, this paper puts forward the following suggestions for senior high school English listening teaching: the English linguistic level should be considered in themultimodal cognitive model of English listening teaching;the quality of English videos affects the level of English listening teaching, and reasonably design listening exercises for English listening teaching;English teachers should pay attention to the English audio-visual strategies, and systematically train students in English listening strategies;English context videos should be widely used in English listening teaching and used in English listening tests.
