Reading,as an important language skill,has always been the focus of English teaching.Scholars at home and abroad have put forward a lot of reading theories,which have pointed out the direction of reading teaching for English teachers.Of all theories,genre analysis and reading strategies have arouse more and more attention.Genre analysis focuses on the analysis of the structure and main characteristics of similar articles from the perspective of discourse.After mastering a certain structure of a genre,students can form a positive transfer towards the same genre,and reading strategies can help students effectively grasp the meaning of the article in a relatively effective way.On the basis of summarizing the previous studies,the author explores the influence of high school English reading strategies training based on genre analysis on students' reading ability,according to the common genres in the English textbook of high school.This study answers the following two questions:(1)how can teachers apply the high school English reading strategies training based on genre analysis into reading instruction?(2)does the high school English reading strategy training based on genre analysis have an impact on students' reading performance? If so,what is the impact?Questionnaire survey,interview and teaching experiments are used in this research.The objects for this research are two classes of Grade 1 with similar levels in Qufu No.1 High School.Each class includes 40 students.Class 1 is the experimental class Class 1,while Class 2is the control class.Before the start of the semester,the reading test and questionnaire about reading strategies were filled out,and students took the first interview.Then,the experimental class was taught with high school English reading strategies training based on genre analysis,while the control class was instructed in regular reading teaching.After 3 months of reading training,the two classes took the post test and the second interview,from which the experimental results were compared and analyzed.The study has two main findings:(1)high school English reading strategies training based on genre analysis includes "context creation,demonstration analysis,contact related discourse and independent analysis,and consolidation exercises" four links(2)teachers can improve students' reading performance and provoke their interest in learning English effectively with high school English reading strategy training based on genre analysis.The significance of this study is as follows: in theory,it provides a newer idea for reading related research,and combines genre analysis and reading strategies in a closer way.In practise,it offers a better reading teaching method to English teachers,which can cultivate students' ability to grasp articles in different genre,develop good reading habits,and improve students' reading level.
