Shi Tuo's Female Writing Research

As a writer,Shituo has a unique and diverse style in modern Chinese literature.Many of his works focus on the situation and fate of Chinese women from 1920s to 1940s.The female images in his works are rich and diverse.Shituo took more attention to those female persons from different nationalities,classes and growing environments to convey their happy and sad lives,as well as to send his deep sympathy to these women who have ever suffered from predicaments.The description of female images in Shituo's novels constitutes the characteristics of female writing.Basing on the intensive reading of the texts,this paper aims to analyze,summarize and deeply explore the characteristics of female writing in Shituo's novels.This paper is mainly consisted of the following parts:The introduction part mainly summarizes the current research status and achievements of Shituo's works.We found that his previous studies mainly focused on the subjects about cultural criticism,style of creation and genre attribution,and so on,which means that the lack of attention to female images in Shituo's creation.Then on this basis,this paper introduces the main contents,research values and research methods of female writing.In chapter one,a lot of female images in Shituo's novel are divided into three types,called traditional women characters in rural china,new women images in new era and the ideal female images have transcendence.By the way of induction and generalization,we sort out the typical female characters from these three types,and interpret the typical encounter in life so as to show the diversification of fate of female characters Shituo's novels.In chapter two,we focused on the exploration of the multi-level female predicaments in Shituo's novels,including the following three life dilemmas faced by female characters,which refers to the lack of family support,the ruin of dreams and the loss of dignity.By the method of intensive reading,this paper analyzes the writing of women's dilemmas in Shituo's novels,and reveals Shituo's deep concern and sympathy to these women,as well as his expectation for women's ideological awakening and pursuit of progress.In chapter three,we discusses the sexual relations in Shituo's novels,shifting the focus point from the single gender of women to the whole society composed of men and women,so as to perceive the Chinese social picture described in Shituo's works.At first,from the perspective of males,who were seen as the subject,this chapter interprets the females,the role of object at that time,and then by researching the broken marriage to analyze the understanding and attitude of sexual relations in Shituo's novels,and summarizes the view of ideal modern marriage relations of Shi tuo on this basis.
