Richard Wagner,a famous German composer and conductor,is also a famous aesthetician, philosopher and playwright. He inherited Beethoven’s creative style, and his great spirit of reform can be seen in opera.During the 26 years of writing The Ring of Nibelungen(hereinafter referred to as the Ring),Wagner experienced a turning point from obscurity to fame.Like other famous composers,Wagner has a large number of excellent works, especially in opera creation. The most representative of Wagner’s opera is the "Ring of the Fingers" Quartet, which has been performing for about 15 hours in a row.As Zhou Shihong wrote, excerpted from The Ring of Nibelungen: Writer and Composition of Quartet Drama(De)Wagner;Translated by Lu Lu,page 13,first paragraph,January 2003,People’s Music Publishing House:"It is a giant of music,an epic of drama,a giant on stage,a fierce beast in emotional experience," and Wagner’s "great dictator" in opera reform. This paper takes "The Ring" as the research object, and makes an in-depth analysis of the instrumental techniques of the main characters’ leading motives in the musical "The Ring".The first chapter describes Wagner’s writing process of "The Ring" script and general score, and tries to give readers a preliminary understanding of the musical "The Ring" by sorting out its creative process. The second chapter introduces the four main characters in the opera. This paper tries to give readers a general understanding of the four characters by explaining their orientation, appearance and plot development to their final destination. The third chapter is the core chapter of this paper. The author discusses the core motivation represented by the four characters separately. It not only analyses the matching techniques of the same dominant motivation in four different scenes, but also makes a detailed analysis of the role of the matching techniques in each scene in dramatic conflicts. The conclusion is a summary of the full text.It summarizes the inner activities of the characters and the paintability of music,so as to show the important role of instrumental techniques in dramatic expression.
