David Hockney is a famous British painting artist,andhis works cover a wide range of fields.The composition of his paintings is novel which focuses on true self-expression and abandons the way of painting that is too realistic.Also,he made a subversively innovative contribution on photography and his original Photo Collage inherits the essence of futurism and cubismwhich creates a two-dimensional picture without visual blind spots that showing a distinctive three-dimensional world.Moreover,he broke the limitations of realistic photography and created a three-dimensional world of artistic beauty in the two-dimensional world which has a strong visual aesthetic.He had a significant influence on the development of modern art,his famous works include Hidden Knowledgeand History of Painting.The former discusses the use of optical instruments in painting from the 15th to the end of the 19th century.The latter explores how men have painted pictures throughout history and how the way men have looked at pictures that influenced the drawing of pictures.These two books seem to discuss different things,but the essence is to sort out the way humans view pictures and the evolutionary history of picture making,David Hockney is very fascinated by the real world of art.He has created a completely different way of expression from traditional art through continuous exploration.This paper will start with his Photo Collageand studies includes four aspects:the background of David Hockney,s life,the real art world,the three-dimensional artistic expression of the two-dimensional world and the influence on modern art.It also focuses on the analysis of David Hockney,s three-dimensional space expression in artistic creation,the reorganization and deconstruction of three-dimensional space,the reference and innovation of futurism and cubism,as well as theexpression means of displaying three-dimensional world in two-dimensional space through multi-view layout.These ingenious and innovative ways allow us to better understand David Hockney and his two-dimensional space and three-dimensional world.
