Picasso is a great artist in the 20th century.He established his position in world art history as a result of his unique cubism and individualized art.This paper takes 1912-1949 as a time limit,combs newspapers,magazines,images and historical materials,discusses the communication history of Picasso in China.From the perspective of communication theory,it firstly examines Picasso's Chinese names and biographical sketch.Secondly,it explores the translation and evaluation of Picasso's works in China.Finally,it discusses the influences of Picasso's works and techniques on art education and artists' creation in the Republic of China.This study shows that the dissemination of his works in China has gone through a process from the beginning,prosperlity to frough.Cai Yuanpei bought Picasso's cubist works in 1915.This marks the beginning of his work in China.Picasso was accepted by the Chinese art circle as a painter of the new painting school in 1917.Yu Jifan,Wei Shou,Ni Yide,Feng Zikai,Ye Qiuyuan,Hua Bin,Xie Haiyan,Chen Baoyi,Ying Mei,Liang Xihong,Chen Shiwen,Ling Huyuan,Hu Pinqing,Chen Shi,Liu Shi,Liu Kang,Wen Zhaotong and others were main translators and introducers of Picasso's biography and works.The works of Chang Yu,Ling Fengmian,Zhao Wuji and others were influenced by Picasso's art.This paper has not only expanded the scope and enriched and content of Picasso's research,but also provided academic references for the fine arts exchange between China and foreign countries and art education in China.We can also see Picasso's works unique artistic charm from this study.
