"Danshi" sentence is a typical sentence pattern in the transitional relationship. It plays an important role in both written and spoken Chinese expressions.Text pattern is a high-level semantic structure,a unique linguistic context of basic clause relations, and an extension of clause relations.According to the theory of discourse pattern, this paper takes the classification of clause relations of "danshi" sentences at the discourse level as the breakthrough point, uses mathematical statistics to analyze the distribution of clause relations of three types of "danshi" sentences in five discourse patterns.and sums up the textual functions of "danshi" sentences at the inter-sentence level and the discourse level in combination with the actual situation of Chinese.Firstly,in the light of the theory of discourse patterns and its practical use in Chinese, the clause relations of "danshi" sentences are reorganized and classilied at the textual level, which can be divided into three categories:matching relationship, logical sequence relationship and mood turning relationship.Among them, the first two types of clause relations contain other subcategories. The third kind of relationship is beyond the scope of traditional discourse pattern theory. This is also the unique feature of Chinese "danshi" sentence. It is a kind of clause relationship which 1s flexible, easy to use and less restricted by discourse pattern. After clarifying the types of clause relations in "danshi" sentences, the paper further makes statistical analysis of the distribution and use of clause relations in different discourse patterns, with a view to discovering the characteristics of Chinese discourse patterns and the corresponding relationship between clause relations and discourse patterns.Through the analysis and research,it is found that some clause relations of "Bu" sentence and discourse patterns are mutually restrictive and influential, which are manifested in denial relations, comparative relations and their corresponding matching types of discourse patterns, and that generalization-concrete relations and situation-evaluation relations have obvious tendency to choose discourse patterns, often appearing in the corresponding discourse patterns. However, this influence is not absolute, and discourse patterns do not completely restrict the choice of clause relations.Relatively speaking, the restrictive complementary relation and the mood turning relation are less affected and have a wider scope of application, accounting for a certain proportion in each type of discourse patterns.Through the classification of clause relations and the study of their textual distribution, this paper ponders and analyses the functions of "danshi" sentences in texts, and how their textual functions can be reflected through clause relations in specific textual patterns. We can draw a conclusion that the textual function of"however" sentences at the inter-sentence level is the fluctuation of information, the transformation of information, the addition of information and the retrieval of information. The textual function at the textual level is the summing-up function and the commanding function. At present, there are not many achievements in using discourse pattern theory to analyze turning sentences or turning relations in China. It is hoped that the inquiry and discussion in this paper can provide some effective theoretical analysis and reflection.
