The Analysis Of "Suiran A,Danshi B" Sentence Pattern In Chinese

In the sentence pattern of Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,Suiran(虽然)is the sign of concession subject,Danshi(但是)is the sign of concession object.It is the typical concession sentence in modern Chinese.This paper is based on the Small Triangle Theory of Xing Fu yi(邢福义),and gives a systematical study on the sentence pattern of Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,from the aspects of language form,language meaning,and language value.From the aspect of language form,this paper mainly studies the language form content of the first clause in two aspects.Firstly,the sign of concession subject,Suiran(虽然),has the function of imply the transition and the authenticity of A.Secondly,the sign of concession subject,Suiran(虽然),can be replaces by Guran(固然)under the circumstance that the sentence Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,has the meaning of judge or evaluation.That’s because the Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B sentence can be referred as both a judgement to an event,or a description to the fact.However,the sentence Guran(固然)A,Danshi(但是)B can only be referred as the subjective judgement to the event from the speaker.As to the language form of the latter clause,we mainly studies three aspects.First,the sign of concession object Danshi(但是),can be omitted only when there are counter-expectation words in the latter clause such as Rengran(仍然),Haishi(还是),Yiran(依然),Ye(也),or when the two clauses are inverted.Secondly,about the sign of concession object Danshi(但是),it discusses its coincidence with function words such as Que(却),Dao(�'),You(又),and Ye(也).The condition of Danshi(但是)and Que(却)showing in the same sentence is the expression of surprise to event B when event A happens.The condition of Danshi(但是)and Dao(�')showing in the same sentence requires a contraction between event A and B.In complex sentences which includes Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B and function word You(又)or Ye(也),they all contains four proposition,the original item A,B and therelated item A’,B’,but the related item A’and B’are different in the two situations.At last,the paper discussed about the different between the signs of concession object,Danshi(但是),Buguo(不过),and Zhishi(只是).On the tone strength of showing a transition,Danshi(但是)>Buguo(不过)>Zhishi(只是).Also,the event introduced by Zhishi(只是)must be negative.The neutral and positive must be introduced by Suiran(虽然),instead of Zhishi(只是).From the aspect of the language meaning,this paper mainly studies the meaning relation and understanding of the sentence pattern Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B.In the aspect of meaning relation,the relation between the original item A and B in compound transitional sentence Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,could be both comparable predication structure and incomparable predication structure,and the relation is none-constraint.The relation between the original item A and B in causal transitional sentence Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,isindirect comparable predication structure,and the relation is restricted as reverse.In the understanding of sentence Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,the subjective referred content is 0<P{B/A}≤0.5;objective referred content isP{A}=1 and P{B}=1.From the aspect of language value,this paper mainly studied the context and mood of the Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B sentence pattern.In the aspect of language environment,we respectively put the Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B sentence pattern into causal complex sentence,hypothetical complex sentence and conditionalcomplex sentence,and formed the sentence pattern or Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B,Suoyi(所以)C,Ruguo(如果)C,Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B and Zhiyao(只要)C,Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B.Then we discussed about the relation between events A,B,and C.In the aspect of mood,we discussed the speaker’s expectation to the listener’s opinion when using the sentence Suiran(虽然)A,Danshi(但是)B.
