A Glimpse Of Mr. Cai Jingmin's Hsinchu Flute Art

The traditional bamboo flute is like an old man,If we dated from the years when more than 20 bone flutes found at Jia hu Ancient Cultural Site in Henan Province,it is nearly over 8,000 years old.The traditional bamboo flute is melodious,loud and widely spread,and is deeply loved by the broad masses of the people.Ten-hole bamboo flute has been developed in 1950s.In 1970,with the in-depth study and research of bamboo flute,Mr.Cai Jingmin deeply felt that the traditional bamboo flute was restricted by such factors as range,transposition and so on,and urgently needed innovation.Mr.Cai Jingmin began to reform on the basis of the ten-hole bamboo flute,and succeeded in developing the new bamboo flute and composing a large number of new bamboo flute music and etudes.In 1980,Mr.Cai Jingmin performed his first bamboo flute solo concert at Beijing ticket sales,then toured various places.Later,Mr.Cai Jingmin was sent by the Ministry of Culture to visit many times and was welcomed by the audience.This paper objectively and truly records Mr.Jing min’s new bamboo flute art.In the proces of writings,through investigation and visits,a large number of frist-hand materials were collected,and Mr.cai Jing min’s door was worshipped.The author devoted himself to learning the art of bamboo flute,which provided the author with the opportunity to learn and understand Mr.Cai Jingmin’s new bamboo flute art closely.This paper focuses on the performance,creation and artistic style of Cai Jingmin’s traditional bamboo flute and new bamboo flute.Gold has no bare feet,beautiful jade has flaws,new bamboo flute is no exception,but its scientific nature and superiority are objective.With the passage of time and the continuous improvement of new bamboo flute,it will play a considerable role in the development of China’s bamboo flute.(see Appendix 1)...
