Research On The Irony Of The Novel "Nie Hai Hua" In The Late Qing Dynasty

As one of the representative works of condemnation novels in the late Qing Dynasty,"Nie Hai Hua" records the historical changes of politics and culture in the last 30 years of the Qing Dynasty.Zeng Pu depicts the fatigue and decadence of bureaucrats and bureaucrats in the feudal upper class society from his unique perspective."Nie Hai Hua" successfully portrays the characters and reveals the dark reality from the author's use of a variety of satirical techniques,one of which is irony.Irony is a kind of negative rhetoric which means that one speaks in one word while the other speaks in another.It is becoming an important aspect of the study.However,there is no comprehensive analysis of the irony in "Nie Hai Hua" so far.This paper takes the text of "Nie Hai Hua" as the research corpus,takes the irony practice in the novel as the research object,and combines the irony theory of China and the West to make a thorough and comprehensive study.The paper is divided into the following parts:The first part is the introduction.Firstly,this paper reviews the language research of "Nie Hai Hua" and analyses the current language research status and research gaps of "Nie Hai Hua".Secondly,it gives a general overview of irony and introduces the historical basis of introducing irony in China.At the same time,the definition of irony,the difference between irony and irony,and the classification of irony are summarized.Finally,the significance of this study and the research methods adopted are elaborated.The second part is the main body of the thesis.There are four chapters.The first chapter is about the realization of irony in "Nie Hai Hua" and its pragmatic features.Based on the types of irony rhetoric in "Nie Hai Hua",this paper combines the irony practice of "Nie Hai Hua" to analyze the ways of realizing irony in the novel.From the perspective of verbal irony,it can be divided into:irony in the right words,misplaced context,exaggerated statements and ironic statements;from the perspective of situational irony,it can be divided into:the opposition between facts and images,the opposition between facts and facts.On this basis,three pragmatic features of irony are summarized,namely,opposition,anticipation and indirectness.The second chapter is about the understanding of irony in "Nie Hai Hua".This paper explores the practice of irony in "Nie Hai Hua" from the perspective of cognitive pragmatics,trying to find out the underlying marking factors behind the understanding of ironic discourse.From the linguistic point of view,this paper summarizes five contextual implications:words,figures of speech,rhythm,additional questions and violation of facts;from the non-linguistic point of view,it summarizes two contextual implications:behavior and expression.The third chapter is about the expressive effect of irony in "Nie Hai Hua".According to the narrative style and the characteristics of irony practice in "Nie Hai Hua",this paper summarizes the expressive effect of irony from the perspective of rhetoric and cognition.From the perspective of rhetoric,irony embodies its expressive effect in three aspects:implicit,concealed,contradictory,relaxed and pleasant,self-confident and detached.From the cognitive point of view,irony also has the effect of recognizing the unknown through association,opening up perspective and deepening cognition.The four chapter is about the formation of irony in "Nie Hai Hua".Based on the above study of irony in "Nie Hai Hua",the formation motivation of irony is deduced,that is,psychological motivation,social and cultural motivation and aesthetic motivation.Psychological motivation includes the author's pursuit of subjectivity and the psychological mechanism of comparative association;social and cultural motivation includes the influence of social change and the innovation of cultural thought;aesthetic motivation includes the pursuit of implicit beauty of language expression and the pursuit of unity of opposites.The third part is the conclusion,summarizing the main points of the full text.
