Octavio Paz is the only famous writer in Mexico to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. The committee commented that "his works are full of passion,open-minded,infiltrated with wisdom of insight and embody perfect humanitarianism".His literary thoughts are profound and extensive, and his concept is ahead. It is not only a spark of the collision between Eastern and Western cultures, but also a combination of classical and contemporary. His literary thoughts are quite complicated. This paper chooses its key points and summarizes Paz's literary thoughts from four aspects:literary creation, literary acceptance, literary development, and literary relations. This paper is divided into three parts:introduction, body and conclusion, and the body contains four chapters. The introduction first introduces the family background and growth process of Paz.The revolutionary experience of Paz's grandfather and father gave him the most tangible recognition of the "revolution",which caused him to have unlimited enthusiasm for the revolution and had to think twice. His mother, aunt, and wife have nourished his creation and soul, and his diplomat career has helped him to fully appreciate the diversity of world civilization.Secondly,it summarizes the research status, research methods and research significance of Octavio Paz's literary thought. The first chapter summarizes Paz's literary creation thought from two aspects of inspiration and imagination.Paz believes that ideas and inspirations in the creation complement each other, the idea requires inspiration, and the inspiration also needs to be conceived. He spoke highly of the role of imagination in literary creation. He sees imagination as a cognitive tool, and then he believes that imagination can cause will, lead to action, and ultimately change the world. The second chapter mainly discusses Paz's thoughts on literary acceptance. From the perspective of accepting aesthetics,Perth believes that the text has a summoning structure that requires readers to fill.He believes that the reader's expectation horizon is different because of his historical and personality.Paz also makes comment on literary criticism that the author is not the master of the work, and the critics and readers have the freedom to criticize. He also criticized some irresponsible critics and called for real criticism. The third chapter is Paz's answer to the development of literature in the predicament of the times. He believes that the predicament of this era is the challenge of marketization and technology supremacy to the development of literature. The logic of the market is not the logic of literature.Technology makes the literary world hollow. He has put forward many constructive opinions that literature not only should inherit tradition but also look at the world. The fourth chapter summarizes Pazfs thinking on the relationship between literature and politics.Paz does not advocate that literature is always opposite to the government. He holds the belief in freedom of speech regardless of whether the subject is political or not,and whether the content is biased. The author should write any literary works strictly for aesthetic reasons and his own passion.Paz criticizes political intervention in literature and advocates that literature is independent. He also insists that literature and politics can achieve unity of opposites. The conclusion is that the biggest feature of Persian literary thought is problem consciousness. His thinking is always devoted to finding a way out for literature.
