Moral Anger And Moral Education

Anger is an emotional reaction to the inappropriate treatment.It is a painful feeling and composed of cognition and desire.Moral anger is the emotional reaction that people have when others,ethics and norms are violated,expresses dissatisfaction with the unjust behavior of others,and it has the recognition and maintenance of universal moral principles and the expectation for others’ better behavior.For morality itself,moral anger is an effort to maintain moral dignity and a way to find and confirm universal moral principles.For the individual,moral anger is also an emotional component of virtue,and establish a deep connection with specific virtues like courage,justice and moderation.In addition,moral anger also plays a unique role in ethical life.It is the emotional basis for the implementation of social punishment to reasonably and appropriately maintain social justice.In this sense,moral anger is also a component of citizens’ moral obligations.However,the role of moral anger is also limited.The open nature of life and the fragility of good means that moral anger can only intend to produce beneficial results,but not produce beneficial results unconditionally.It even has the danger of obscuring the real goodness.Moral anger is a developing concept,so we need to look at it in an education view,exploring how to guide children’s anger to make it morally.However,anger was first treated inappropriately:Through the oppression of ancient education and the stigma of psychology,modern society has an allergic reaction to unmoral anger.In the encounter of anger,moral anger in modern society has also disappeared,and modern education has also neglected and oppressed moral anger.Specifically,school education has completed the oppression through textbook,educational reproduction,and the transformation of educational purpose and methods.As a result,the humanity degrades firstly,and then people move toward the path away from goodness and approaching evil,finally modern society loses the possibility of development.The inappropriate situation of moral anger makes it necessary for us to find a new way of dealing with moral anger in education.According to the analysis of the structure of anger and moral anger,it is necessary and possible to guide anger in a moral way,so the guidance of moral anger can be carried out in two directions:One direction is resisting the oppressive mechanism,which means,justifying moral anger,cultivating the world’s citizens,establishing a decent society,and transforming education itself.Another direction is from the standpoint of education itself,protecting and stimulating students’ moral anger by education’s own anger,and regulating students’ anger to make it have a moral impact on students.
