Oral English is the language used for oral expression between people,and it is the most frequent,direct and convenient way of communication in human society.English as an international language,there is no doubt about the importance of oral expression.At present,the junior middle school English education in our country is mainly examination-oriented.More attention is paid to the explanation and teaching of knowledge,with emphasis on English written expression training and reading ability.However,students' oral ability is neglected.The absence of real English communicative situations further aggravates the phenomenon of “dumb English”.This study is based on the relevant concepts and theories of spoken English,oral English,oral test and assessment.Taking a middle school in Wanzhou as an example and studying the present situation and problems of the cultivation of oral English ability of junior middle school students by means of questionnaire survey,interview and Test.Through student questionnaires and surveys,analysis of the student's verbal description,oral narrative,oral presentation,verbal instructions,ability of verbal discourse,verbal interaction and so on.By interviewing with teachers,summing up teachers' knowledge and understanding of English speaking ability,teachers' design of oral teaching activities,the students' problems in English oral learning,teachers' problems in oral English teaching,teachers' test and evaluation methods of students' oral English.Through two tests,and after a period of teaching intervention,we can understand the changes of students' oral ability.The study found that the factors that influence oral English ability of junior middle school students mainly involve two aspects:first,teachers' oral English teaching ability is weak.Second,students' oral English learning habits are relatively lacking.On this basis,this study puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for training junior middle school students' oral English ability:teachers should change their teaching concepts,adopt flexible teaching methods,and use multiple evaluation methods to improve teachers' oral English teaching ability.Students should cultivate good oral English learning habits by improving their learning attitude,improving their learning methods and enhancing their learning motivation,so as to improve their oral English ability...
