Research On The Human And Social Changes In The Longquanyi Contract In Chengdu Since The Qing Dynasty

As witnesses when signing contracts,Chinese people are a longstanding group in traditional Chinese society.They play the roles of notary,guarantor and contract supervisor in rural society.The middleman has played an active role in supervising contract execution,regulating neighborhood disputes and participating in rural social governance.There are reasons for the long-term existence of middle-aged people in rural society.They are in accordance with the soil of rural social autonomy,and middle-aged people have certain vitality in rural society.However,China has changed from a traditional society to a modern society after the Opium War.With the change of rural social structure,the former part of autonomy of rural society gradually gave way to the direct management of modern government.Under the general trend of modern China’s reform,the social soil for the existence of middle-aged people was gradually compressed and gradually declined in the trend of modern social change.Taking Longquanyi contract documents as the entry point,this paper analyses the status and role of the people in the contract in rural society,explores the reasons for the existence and decline of the people in the contract,and looks at the social changes in Longquanyi area since the Qing Dynasty through the process of the change of the identity of the people in the contract.
