The process of the evolution of the time and space of the Dazu County settlement in the Qing Dynasty is a microcosm of the spatial and temporal evolution of the settlement of the SichuanYunnan region. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, after the war-torn Sichuan region, the fields were ridiculous and sparsely populated. After the Sichuan settled in the early Qing Dynasty, immigrants used the main means to solve the problem of sharp population decline in Sichuan. After the gathering, the settlements in Sichuan began to gradually recover and develop.Dazu County, which is located in the interlaced zone between the parallel ridge valleys in the east of Sichuan and the hills in the middle of the Sichuan Basin,is also based on this background and begins to resume production and development, and begins its spatial and temporal evolution.Dazu County has re-established the county government since the Qing Dynasty(1730).It has restored the settlement of the main ramp and some towns. With the settlement of the immigrant population and the growth of the natural population, the number of settlements on the town and the ramp has been increased.During the Xianfeng period, due to local wars, the southwestern region overhauled the fortress, and Dazu County also increased many settlements.During the Republic and the post-foundation period, productivity increased, the population grew naturally, the number and size of settlements changed, and the settlement gradually filled the county. The whole situation is relatively sparse in the northwest and dense in the southeast.According to the research, this distribution is largely restricted by the topography of the northwestern mountain and southeastern ridges of Dazu County. There are six types of settlements in Dazu County, namely, farming settlements, commercial settlements, military settlements, religious settlements, mining settlements, and traffic settlements;farming settlements are scattered throughout the county, and mainly present in diaspora;commercial settlements are towns, mainly distributing traffic. There are more roads in the southeast than in the northwest, and the planar organization is mostly multi-dimensional;the military settlement is the Zhaibao, mainly distributed in the northwest and the county center;the religious settlements are popular in temples, mainly located in the Baoding Mountain in the county. The mining settlements are mainly due to salt and iron coal, mainly distributed in the southeastern ridge valley and the south of the county;the traffic clusters are prosperous due to traffic, the most typical ones are located in the southern part of the county,on the Dongda Road in the Sichuan area in the Ming and Qing Dynasties(the important road from Chongqing to Chengdu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties)).The name of the Dazu County is largely consistent with its topography and landforms. The rest of the naming reflects the characteristics of the rural farming society.Similarly, the name of the building also provides a perspective on the rural society of Dazu County in the Qing Dynasty, from which Dazu County is recorded.Customs of rural social life scenes.According to the research, the driving factors of the spatial and temporal evolution of Dazu County are mainly influenced by the immigration factors and topography of the Dazu County settlement. The latter is influenced by the natural reproduction of the population and the social situation, such as the military settlement caused by the war,and the economy.Factors such as transportation, administration, etc.also have a greater impact.Studying the spatial and temporal evolution of the settlements in Dazu County is an attempt and practice for the study of historical geography of small areas, and also provides assistance for the current rapid urbanization.
