Research On The Modern Changes Of Yushan Dragon Dance Activities

The dragon dance culture is a treasure of the Chinese traditional culture and plays an important role in the survival and development of the Chinese nation.Affected by the early political system,traffic restrictions and geographical conditions,different regions have developed their unique dragon dance cultures.However,with the development of modern civilization,the dragon dance culture in the different regions gradually declines,disappears,or tends to assimilate and loses its characteristics.The dragon dance culture of Yushan Town,Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of Chongqing has a long history and its own local characteristics.The study explored Yushan dragon dance culture's modern changes and development for the better protection of the Chinese dragon dance culture resources,as well as its inheritance.This study used the literature method,the field survey method,the thick description ethnographic method,and draws on the relevant theories and methods of anthropology to acknowledge the changes of Yushan dragon dance culture,respectively,from the habitat foundation of Yushan dragon dance culture.The history of change,the laws and causes of modern change,and other aspects were discussed and summarized.The main research conclusions are as follows:1.Considered the social transformation theory,the cultural change theory and the real history of Yushan folk customs together,this study divides the change of Yushan dragon dance culture into five development stages.i)Origin.The ancestors of the Yushan people were the Miao nationality,and later the Tujia people moved in.Both nationalities worshipped the gods and had the custom of dancing dragons and rains,but the specific cycle could not be confirmed.ii)Traditional development period(the Republic of China period).As the pillar of Yushan's economy,the salt industry has promoted other economic chains,democratic life,rich local folk culture,and prosperous development.The dragon dance is one of the local folk sports activities,the material security foundation and the people.The cultural pride and sense of belonging made the dragon dance flourish.During this period,the dragons believed in the gods and used the dragon dance to pray for the blessings,harvest and prosperity,and pursue spiritual satisfaction.iii)The period of disappearance(after the liberation to the Cultural Revolution).After the liberation of the planned economy,important participants in the activities of the Yushan dragon dance: the collapse of the bourgeoisie(salt merchants and landlords),and the strong anti-feudal superstition of the Cultural Revolution on the culture of the Yushan folk custom,the locals had to stop dancing The development of the dragon movement.iv)Rejuvenate the transition period(reform and opening to around 2005).After the reform and opening up,the Yushan dragon dance activity was resumed.However,due to the implementation of macroeconomic policies and the reform of the local economic system in Yushan,the scale,form and function of the Yushan dragon dance activities have changed.v)Fading period(around 2005 to present),the collapse of a large number of township enterprises and the out-migration of the population,leading to the lack of economic foundation and cultural subjects of the dragon dance activities,affecting the normal development of local dragon dance activities;on the other hand,the western sports culture The strong invasion has caused local residents to gradually weaken their attention to the dragon dance culture.2.The reasons for the change of Yushan dragon dance culture.The external reasons are the changes of the local economy,the migration of the population,the transformation of social organizations and political systems,and the impact of Western sports culture.The internal reasons are mainly the development of the dragon dance itself and the cultural literacy of the dragon dance culture.The four aspects of the material culture are not synchronized,the cultural subject consciousness is changed,and the Yushan dragon dance culture is inclusive.3.This study draws the rule of the modern change of Yushan dragon dance culture: the social natural environment is the prerequisite for the modern change of Yushan dragon dance culture,and the economic foundation is the orientation of the modern change of Yushan dragon dance culture.The key to the modern changes of the mountain dragon dance culture,deconstruction and reconstruction is the way of the dragon dance culture change.4.The conclusions and related enlightenment.According to the history,reasons and rules of the Yushan dragon dance culture change,the relevant revelation is: the state should establish a sound protection mechanism for folk sports culture,and the local government should make rational use of folk sports resources to benefit the local people and guide them.The cultural subject of Yushan Dragon Dance actively participated in the protection of folk sports culture.
