Xiaoying is a Zen monk of Linji Sect in the Southern Song Dynasty. He wrote two notes,Luohu Yelu and Yunwo Jitan. These two notes inherited the writing tradition of Zen notes in Song Dynasty, and also had distinct personal imprints. The writing of monks is the focus of these two notes, while Xiaoying's ideology runs through the writing of monks. At present, there are few studies on the Zen notes in Song Dynasty, and there are few studies on Xiaoying's notes.Starting from the selection of writing groups, the typical shaping of monks, and the collection of monks' composition, this paper studies the monks' writing in Luohu Yelu and Yunwo Jitan, focusing on the ideology. This paper is divided into four chapters:Chapter one untangle the writing groups in Xiaoying's notes. The central figures involved in the two books can be divided into monks and secular groups,in which the monk group is the main writing object, while the secular group is mainly the scholar-bureaucrats closely related to the Zen.The distribution of monk groups in times, sects, genders and so on has its own characteristics, and there are some prominent features in religious contribution, character and morality.Xiaoying focused on the contribution and virtue of the monks and set up corresponding monk models.Chapter two looks at the literary expression of the monk group from Xiaoying's collection of the monk's works. The theme of monk's creation is relatively rich.Xiaoying's notes mainly involve a large number of poems. These poems can be divided into three categories according to the different themes:explaining Buddhist doctrine, making friends with others, and talking about Zen.Although their main contents are quite different from the background of creation,in the final analysis, they do not depart from the religious characteristics of Buddhist doctrine in monk's poems.Chapter three is based on the induction and analysis of the typical monks and their literary expressions in the first two chapters, explores the main ideas reflected in Xiaoying's notes on monks' writings. The personality characteristics of monks, their choice of fame and their attitude towards life and death are combined with Xiaoying's evaluation, which ultimately reflects a clear view of personality, fame.life and death.Chapter Four measures Xiaoying's writing of monks from two aspects:ideological value and document value. The ideological concepts embodied in Luohu Yelu andYunwo Jitan are closely related to the Zen at that time.Xiaoying concern for the Sect, stabbed the unhealthy trend of the Zen in the monks' writing, and supplemented some documents of the Zen in the Song Dynasty with a prudent attitude, which was of great benefit to the Sect.
