The large-scale national minority social history survey conducted from 1956 to 1964 was a major event in the history of ethnic studies.With the large scale,wide scope,and rich collection of materials,this work hasnot only far-reaching influence inside of the country,but also rare significance in the world.It is one of the important starting points of national research after the founding of the People's Republic of China.This event is the first large-scale scientific investigation of the historical and historical situation of the national minority society organized and planned.The meeting was initiated by Mao Zedong,organized by Pengzhenand set up a team led by Liu Geping,who was the chairman of the National People's Congress National Committee,Liu Chun,the deputy director of the Central Ethnic Affairs Committee,and FeiXiaotong,the vice president of the Central Institute for Nationalities.The survey involved almost all ethnic minority areas.It was divided into two stages.It consisted of 16 investigation teams with more than 1,000 participants.From the beginning of the investigation to the subsequent compilation,editing,publication and revision,the work took half a century,and a total of 145 copies of 84 kinds of "Social History Survey Data of Minorities" were finally published.For such precious information,the author believes that how to interpret and explore the value of the text itself,including the current national research work and its past impact on minority social reform is currently relevant research units and scholars need to pay attention.This paper attempts to start from the investigation of minority social historyand the basis of previous studies,it will re-examine the beginning and end of the investigation work,the existing research results and the reflection research on the content of the text.The main research content is centered on the "Study on Tibetan Social History",introduces the process of ethnic social history investigation,to sort out the work of the Tibetan social history investigation team in Tibet,narrates the compilation,editing,publication and republication of the texts of the Tibetan Social History Survey,and discussthe development of the Tibetan Social History Survey on the development and significance of Tibetan society in the past.While retelling the historical survey of Tibetan society,the historical and practical significance of the Tibetan Social History Survey was preliminarily summarized.
