What is historical thought? Generally, I think it consists of history as literature, historiography and philosophy of history. Historical thought is the creative result of thinking and praxis in historical studies. The container of historical thought is historical writings. Historiography refers to the collection and compilation on historical sources or history of the history. In my point of view, we can not regard historiography as a synonym of historical studies. In fact, historical studies include historiography, historical narration, historical criticism and reflexivity on history etc. Many Tibetologists and scholars have been very interested in Tibetan history, but few people talk over Tibetan historical studies. The reason why I select Tibetan historical thought as the theme of the work is mainly to show two new and original aspects rather than fill in the academic gap in Tibetological circle. Firstly, my argument is based on combination synchronic analyses with diachronic analyses. Secondly, besides Han-Chinese historiography, China's traditional history comprises actually Tibetan and other ethnic history, such as that of Mongol, Chaoxian (Koreans), Uygur and Dai. So the work will provide valuable help to the reconstruction of China's historical studies and China's history of the history.
