The aging of the population has become an inevitable trend in the development of today's society, and it is also a common problem faced by all countries in the world.China is the country with the largest number of elderly people, and it is also one of the fastest aging countries in the world. With the advent of the aging population and the continuous improvement of the material living standards, the mental health and emotional experience of the elderly have become an important part of the government and the community. For the elderly, loneliness, anxiety and depression are different levels of negative emotions that they can't avoid, and are also important factors affecting their quality of life. Therefore, how to reduce these negative emotions of the elderly and improve their quality of life has become the focus of research in the field of psychology. In fact, there are many factors that affect the emotional state of the elderly, but in general, the personal factors of the elderly and external environmental factors. As an important environmental factor affecting the social development of the elderly, family function not only provides the elderly with material life help, but also provides emotional support.Self-integrity,as a way of cognition on oneself, plays an important role in maintaining emotional stability while the elderly are under stress. Therefore, family function and self-integrity as an internal and external factor to protect the physical and mental development of the elderly have an important impact on the negative emotions of the elderly. The self-stereotype of the elderly is a stable concept or view of the their own characteristics, and it has also been proved to play an important role in the emotional development of the elderly.Based on this,Study 1 conducted a questionnaire survey of 804 elderly people from 5 communities in Xi'an using the Family Assessment Device, the Mini Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, the Self-Assessment Anxiety Scale, the UCLA Loneliness Self-Assessment Scale, the Self-integrity Scale, and the Self-Stereotype Questionnaire for the elderly. Methods such as correlation analysis, analysis of variance and structural equation modeling were used to explore the different roles of self-integrity and self-stereotype in the influence of family function on negative emotions. The study 2 used a 2 × 3 mixed design, with 173 elderly people aged 60-70 as the research object, and performed self-affirmation intervention for 3 times on 88 elderly people in the experimental group, once a week for 3 weeks. At the same time, three control experiments were conducted on 85 elderly people in the control group. And the results of the intervention were evaluated by repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that:(1)There is a significant negative correlation between family function and depression/anxiety/loneliness,and the family function of the elderly have negative predictive effects on these three negative emotions; There is a significant negative correlation between self-integrity and three negative emotions; There is a significant positive correlation between family function and self-integrity;And the self-stereotype is significantly negatively correlated with family function and self-integrity,and is significantly positively correlated with the three negative emotions.(2)The self-integrity of the elderly plays a part in mediating the effects of family function on the three negative emotions. The self-stereotype of-the elderly plays a moderation role in the relationship between family function,self-integrity and depression, and plays a moderation role in the relationship between family function,self-integrity and anxiety, but does not moderate the relationship between family function,self-integrity and loneliness;Specifically, the self-stereotype of the elderly plays a moderation role in the impact of self-integrity on depression/anxiety in the mediation model.(3)Self-affirmation intervention has a significant effect on improving the self-integrity of the elderly;Self-affirmation intervention has a significant effect on reducing the self-stereotype of the elderly;Self-affirmation interventions significantly reduce the levels of depression, anxiety, and loneliness in the elderly.Through the above results, this study not only enriches the theoretical research in the field of psychology related to the elderly, but also provides an effective intervention method to reduce the negative emotions of the elderly and enhance their happiness.
