Research On "Chinese Style" In Xian Xinghai's Opera "Military And Civil March"

Xian Xinghai(1905-1945)is an outstanding musician in the history of modern Chinese music.In the field of music creation,it's genre involves mass songs,chorus,opera,symphony,symphonic suite,symphony poetry,orchestral music,as well as instrumental solo,ensemble and many other aspects.In his lifetime,he created more than 500 pieces of vocal music works,which not only had a wide range of subjects and contents,but also produced a great number of works,and had a profound social impact in the 1930s and 1940s.In the field of music theory,he wrote 35 articles,It's content mainly involves music and the masses,music and the Anti-Japanese War,the national form of music,folk song research,the construction of new Chinese music and the evaluation of contemporary musicians,etc.,which played a significant role in the development of China's modern music.In particular,his”Chinese Spirit" view of opera creation has a very positive impact on Chinese opera creation.Therefore,this paper takes Xian Xinghai's opera "Military and Civilian March" as the research object,discusses his opera creation view of "Chinese Spirit" and its embodiment in the opera,and on this basis,explores the cause,value,status and enlightenment of "Chinese Spirit".This can not only enhance our cognition of Xian Xinghai's opera creation view of "Chinese Spirit",but also enrich our understanding of Xian Xinghai from the perspective of opera,and reveal the historical status and contemporary enlightenment of this work in the development history of Chinese opera.Therefore,the subject selection has important and positive research value.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter elaborates Xian Xinghai and his proposal of "Chinese Spirit".This chapter mainly combs several important stages of Xian Xinghai's music creation.At the same time,starting from the discussion of "Chinese Spirit" in literary and artistic circles,this paper sorts out the different definitions of "Chinese Spirit" by literary and artists,and clarifies the definition of "Chinese Spirit" by Xian Xinghai.The second chapter discusses the expression of " Chinese Spirit" in the opera"Military and Civilian March".From three aspects:melody writing in Chinese Spirit,the use of Chinese national musical instruments and the exploration of polyphonic nationalization,this paper explores how Xian Xinghai put his opera creation concept of"Chinese Spirit" into practice in Military and Civil March.The third chapter analyzes the thoughts on Xian Xinghai's "Chinese Spirit".This paper mainly explores the causes of Xian Xinghai's "Chinese Spirit" and how to correctly view the value,significance and enlightenment of Xian Xinghai's "Chinese Spirit".The paper holds that xianxinghai's "Chinese Spirit" opera '"Military and Civilian March" has played an important role in the development of Chinese opera,which not only gave the people great encouragement and rousing awakening power during the Anti-Japanese War,but also has certain reference value for the development of Chinese opera.
