Cognitive Research On The Neologism Of "Wei X" Based On Etymology

According to the annual edition of the Chinese New Words,there were 87"micro-X" from 2009 to 2016.So far,"micro-X" has been derived as a group.The emergence and sharp increase of "micro-X" make it a linguistic phenomenon worthy of attention.From the perspective of etymology,we explore the development mechanism of the "micro-X" based on the theory of cognitive linguistics.The introduction part mainly expounds the value of the selected topic and analyzes its feasibility.It also briefly introduces the research status at home and abroad and the research methods adopted in the thesis.The second chapter firstly defines the new word "micro-X”,and briefly describes its development and formation process.Before the Tang Dynasty,"micro" was mainly used as a monosyllabic word,while the two-syllable words containing "micro" were largely appearing in the Tang Dynasty.With the large-scale development of the new words "micro-X" generated by micro blog and WeChat,the meaning of "micro" has gradually become generalized,and some blurred meaning has been derived.The third chapter mainly analyzes the original meaning and the etymology of"micro".Starting from the etymology,we know that "micro" is originally taken from the hair,the original meaning is "small,subtle",and because of the small opening of the lips when the sound made,the root of "micro"is likely to be generated from the copy of the feature of-hair.The fourth chapter analyzes the development mechanism of the new words"micro-X" on the basis of introducing the related subject and theories of cognitive linguistics.As the key between form and content,cognition is an important breakthrough in solving language problems.In the process of composition,completion and elaboration of " micro”and " X”,the integration and prominence of the common factors of two input spaces are completed,and the de-categorization and re-categorization of input space to different degrees are realized,which leads to the"strengthening,civilian,and open" development trend of the meaning of "micro-X".In this process,the specific meaning of "micro" is weakened,and the neutral and even derogatory shades of meanings has gradually become commendatory.From the etymology of "micro"to the character of'micro" to the monosyllabic word of "micro"and the two-syllable words of "micro-X"and then to the population of "micro-X",we get a clue to the evolution of "micro" semantics.The remainder part mainly expounds some of the understandings that the author has gained in the process of analysis and research.First of all,the original meaning of the words have a profound radiation effect on the development of words.Secondly,the meaning of new words is an objective reflection of the changes in the mass culture which caused by social development.In short,the group of "micro-X" is the product of the contradiction between the new thinking content stimulated by the network platform and the existing language form.The development of language is a process of contradiction.The remarkable stage characteristics of language development are precisely the intensification and temporary solution of contradictions.
