The Effect Of Double Bass Ensemble On The Performance Of The Band

Double bass ensembles play an instrumental role in the modern symphony orchestra.Since the 50 s of the last century,the pedagogy of double bass performance in China has mainly focused on solo playing.Until the year of 2006,in order to improve students' overall music accomplishment,China Conservatory of Music built double bass ensembles into the curriculum for the first time,this opens a new chapter in the history of double bass pedagogy in China.This paper contains three chapters:The first chapter introduces the plays in the graduation repertoire.The second chapter has three sections,start with the introduction of evolving process of the educational courses for double bass ensembles in China,followed by the discussion that the courses for double bass ensembles has played an essential role in training students' practical ability in concert band and personal music accomplishment.The third chapter demonstrates the significance of double bass ensembles,by analyzing the playing techniques and considerations in the performance of Johann Strauss Jr.'s <Blue Danube> with double bass quartet.
