According to the novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms,the kingdoms of Wei,Shu and Wu are stand like the three legs together.In the course of the confrontation,they check and balance each other or through alliance to achieve balance.Under the guidance of the ideological tendency of "respecting Liu and suppressing Cao",the researchers paid more attention to the confrontation between loyalty and treachery which among the kingdoms of Wei and Shu,and neglected the systematic studies of Eastern wu to a certain extent in the process of the research.From the perspective of the systematic study of the novel,Eastern Wu is undoubtedly as important as the kingdoms of Shu and Wei.Furthermore,they are the significant force for maintaining the triangular balance.The researchers draw too much on the study of the kingdoms like Shu and Wei,while the related studies on the Eastern Wu,which are between the "loyalty" and "treacherous" of the kingdoms of Shu and Wei,are at a comparatively scattered level.Therefore,this kind of situation needs to be changed.This thesis systematically studies the characters of Eastern Wu in the novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.The creation of the characters of Eastern Wu in the novel is almost derived from the historical materials such as Records of the Three Kingdoms,Notes of Records of the Three Kingdoms By Pei Songzhi,History As A Mirror through the evolution of the history to the novel.It is worth noting that in the absence of historical data,the writer Luo Guanzhong reasonably fabricated the storyline according to the character's needs.In the novel,the heroic events of Lord Wu,official ministers and force ministers were repeatedly transferred to the characters of the kingdom of Shu,and the creative intention of appraising Shu and criticizing Eastern Wu was particularly obvious.The characterization of Eastern Wu was influenced by the ideological tendency of "respecting Liu and suppressing Cao".Eastern Wu is between the "loyalty" and "treacherous".Therefore,the novel does not blindly praise or degrade the characters of the kingdom,but has a special rhythm.The merits and demerits of Lord Wu are weakened as a whole to highlight Cao Cao's fraudulent and Liu Bei 's loyalty.The courtiers of Eastern Wu are tool-like existence,who also serving Shu's orthodox thoughts.The overall performance of the characters in the novel is that if Wu and Shu are friends,then the image of Eastern Wu charactersis more positive.While Wu and Shu are enemies,and the characters of Eastern Wu will be ugly and distorted.This is also a striking narrative orientation in the novel.It was inevitable that regime of Eastern Wu would be able to gain a foothold in Jiangdong in the era when the heroes flocked together.The talent construction models of the three major groups have similarity and difference.The same thing is that the three major groups all make efforts to recruit talents,while the difference lies in the use of talents.The kingdom of Wei adopt the model of "completion of the public",The kingdom of Shu relies on only one elite's intelligence,Eastern Wu apply a talent construction model that emphasizes both culture and martial arts.Eastern Wu was developed and strengthened by the unremitting efforts of ruler and his ministers especially under the leadership of the famous and determined Wu.Moreover,from rise to the fall of Eastern Wu also undoubtedly proves that the match of the wise ruler and ministers is an crucial factor for prospering the country.On the contrary,the state will inevitably defeat.Through systematic research on the portraits of Lord Wu,Dadudu,official ministers,force ministers,the individual analysis of individual characters is changed to holistic research,so as to reach the integration of the whole and individual research.Deepen the interpretation of the cultural meaning of "respecting Liu depreciating Wu" from a new perspective,revealing the unique thinking of the culture of Eastern Wu which was entrusted by the creator of the long-covered the novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms behind this story.
