The phenomenon of printmaking culture refers to the affairs with exemplary and marking value in the development of printmaking culture.It is the result of the cultivation and continuous improvement of the people on the basis of the same needs and psychology.It is often a synthesis of thinking ideas and their concrete forms,It has not only the characteristics of external form,but also the that of internal views,and is the cognitive product that rising from people’s feeling of the characteristics of printmaking to rational induction.The cultural phenomenon of watermarking woodcut prints in Ming and Qing dynasties in China is closely related to the formation and development of Ukiyo-e prints in Edo period in Japan.However,in the later period,these two cultural phenomena of printmaking went into different development paths.This paper aims to explore the reasons of the developing differences between the cultural phenomenon of watermarking woodcut prints in Ming and Qing Dynasty of China and cultural phenomenon of Ukiyo-e prints in Edo period of Japan,and how the cultural phenomenon of watermarking woodcut prints in Ming and Qing dynasties to be continued and developed today.
