During the Song dynasty, the development of Yi-ology entered a new stage, when traditional historical science also made a splendid achievement. The “tight bound” between Yi-ology and historical science forged since Han Dynasty became even tighter, leading to an emerge of a great number of well-known masters proficient in both Yi-ology and historical science.Su Shi is its representative figure. As an inheritor of family learning and academic cultural tradition of Shu(Sichuan),Su made a new exploration into the relation between Yi-ology and historical science: He prioritized Zuozhuan(the Commentary of Zuo)in “proving Yi-ology by historical science”,striving to make contributions in state governance;he also expounded on the difference between life” and “emotion”,trying to blaze a trail in Yi-ology.In“explaining historical science via Yi-ology”,Su started from traditional themes of Yi-ology such as “worries”,“flexibility” and “heaven and human”,forming a series of historical opinions featuring characteristics of Shu Studies, such as “to detect weakness from prosperity”,“to change with the time” and “to go with the nature”.From these opinions,a thought of “historical science being embodied in Yi-ology and Yi-ology being embodied in historical science” was constructed in Su's great theoretical system. In the meantime, the literary personality of Su,a literary giant with an obvious scholar character, affected his thought of interaction between Yi-ology and historical science, and the series of exploration into the interaction also unknowingly impacted his literary aesthetics and artistic pursuit.Su's theoretical creativity and achievement in the “interaction” field is an important angle to inspect and study his thought as well as a reflection of the uniqueness in which the academic thoughts in the Song dynasty differ from those in previous dynasties.
