A Probe Into The Healing Function Of Mandala Painting

Mandala has evolved from a form of Buddhist architecture to an artistic schema,from helping Buddhist practitioners to practice to promoting the healing of ordinary individuals.Mandala painting has become a unique and effective method in art therapy.The study of Mandala painting is important because it explores other ways of expressing emotions,not just by oral or written means.As a new research field,it needs further exploration.This study will focus on the healing function of Mandala painting,mainly from two aspects.On the one hand,under the background of Buddhism,Taoism and Chinese traditional culture,this paper explains the original meaning,Buddhist tradition,culture connotation of Mandala to deeply observe and discuss the hidden healing of Mandala schema.On the other hand,from the perspective of western psychology,this paper attempts to systematically explain the relationship between Buddhist mandala and mandala painting therapy,as well as the healing mechanism and characteristics of it.Finally,combined with the author's own healing practice of Mandala painting,the healing of Mandala painting also has been verified.The author discusses the healing function of Mandala painting from the perspective of the east and the west,which gives us a new way to understand and appreciate the wisdom of the east,and makes this understanding no longer metaphysical,but more scientific and intuitive.Although we think that there is a huge gap between western psychology and eastern Buddhism or Taoism,when we know that both pay close attention to the inner world in a very similar way,eastern thought and western science have a more profound significance for us.To sum up,Mandala is a medium to help practitioners understand Buddha nature in Buddhism,an introspective method in accordance with the law of life operation in Taoism,the most basic form in art,an aesthetic symbol with universal significance,and the oldest symbol of mental structure in psychology.It can be seen that Mandala has ancient healing genes and powerful modern healing significance.
