Research On Translation Strategies Of Local Laws And Regulations

With the in-depth promotion of Belt and Road Initiative in China,the translation of local rules has become an important area that judicial departments must pay attention to.This paper takes the project of No.60 Announcement of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee as an example to discuss the strategies for translating local rules into English.This paper has some thoughts on the terminology,sentence patterns and text style in the translation of local rules;and also found that some problems in the translation of local rules-such as inconsistent translation of terminology,inaccurate translation of fixed sentence patterns,and the translation does not conform to the text style of local rules.This paper consists of four chapters: Chapter I introduces the source of the project,as well as the specific translation content and completion.Chapter II introduces the pre-translation preparations for the project,includs preparations of translation tools and translation principles for local rules translation.Chapter III is about the translation strategies and the specific practices of local rules translation,which mainly explains the translation strategies used in terminology translation,sentence translation and text style control through some practical cases.Chapter IV includes some thoughts on the translation of Chinese local rules,and some suggestions such as establishing national standards for the local rules translation,implementing project management for local rules translation and strengthening training of interpreters.
