Expression inhibition strategy is an emotional regulation strategy focusing on response, and its effect on regulating emotions has been controversial. However,in many studies,we found that the expression inhibition strategy has an adaptive effect and can effectively regulate negative emotions. Therefore,it is necessary to explore which form of expression inhibition has the best effect on emotion regulation. In this study,we compared the effects of different expression inhibition strategies on the subjective experience and physiological arousal of negative emotions at different levels of consciousness. In this study,53 elderly people were selected as subjects, using a mixed experimental design of 3(group: unconscious expression inhibition group, conscious expression inhibition group, free viewing group)×2(time: arousal period, recovery period). The group is the inter-subject variable, and the time schedule is the intra-subject variable.Unconscious expression suppression using sentence finishing task paradigm, conscious expression suppression using implementation intentions paradigm, emotions induced mainly by means of watching movie clips, adopting multiple physiological recorder real-time monitoring, including galvanic skin, heart rate, breathing, and so on a number of physiological indexes,by the self-assessment lists of emotional measurement mood subjective experience. The results show that:1.The subjective emotional experience of the conscious expression inhibition group was significantly lower than that of the unconscious expression inhibition group and the control group;2.During the movie watching, the electrodermal response of the unconscious expression inhibition group was significantly higher than that of the conscious expression inhibition group and the control group, and there was no significant difference between the conscious expression inhibition group and the control group. |
