The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to "promote the construction of international communication capacity,tell a good Chinese story,show a true,three-dimensional,and comprehensive China,and improve the national cultural soft power." It is necessary to work hard to tell a good Chinese story,and do a good job in foreign cultural communication and cultural trade.Culture has increasingly become an important carrier for China to fight for the right to speak on the international stage and establish a national image.Under the guidance of the "Culture Going Out" strategy,major cities have launched an attempt to spread culture to the outside world.The "Nanjing Week" activity is a practice of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government in promoting Nanjing's "going out".After five years of practice,"Nanjing Week" accumulated experience in the process of foreign cultural communication and explored a set of modes for Nanjing's foreign cultural communication.Cultural symbols are the carriers and important representations of culture,and an important way of urban cultural spirit transmission and presentation.This article organizes and analyzes the cultural symbols of "Nanjing Week" to study its urban culture spread to the outside world.Taking the "Nanjing Week" 's five years of trial and experience accumulation as a sample of characteristic practice cases of the external communication of urban culture,this article summarizes the "Nanjing Week" external communication activity model,and reflects on its shortcomings.This article is divided into five parts.The first part sorts out and analyzes the cultural symbols in "Nanjing Week",summarizes its characteristics,and studies which cultural symbols have been spread out by "Nanjing Week",and how to choose and present them;second Part of the analysis of the culture represented by the symbol,to explore how "Nanjing Week" spread the Nanjing culture;the third part of the "Nanjing Week" communication method,channel,content,etc.,to study how cultural symbols should be spread;The fourth part analyzes the participation forces in the event,discusses how the government,enterprises and the public participate and influence the external communication of urban cultural symbols;the last part summarizes and reflects on the "Nanjing Week" model.
