Perception of size is an important branch of the field of perception. It is a subjective reflection of the size of the stimulus space. It affects people's psychology and behavior in many ways. There are multiple metaphorical psychological effects on the color of stimuli, such as depth metaphor, warm and cold metaphor, emotional metaphor, etc. So,do these metaphors and their interactive effects affect size perception? In order to explore the influence of factors such as the color, shape and subject's mood of the stimulus on size perception, the research design included two experiments. The first experiment explored the effect of stimulus color on size perception. The experiment uses a single factor repeated measurement design. The independent variable is the color of the stimulus, which is divided into 8 levels: red, blue, green, yellow, cyan, purple, white, and black. In pairwise comparison, each time it is judged to be larger,it gets 1 point, otherwise it gets 0 points, and the cumulative score is determined as the dependent variable under each condition. The second experiment explores the effect of the color and shape of the stimulus and the subject's emotion on size perception. The experiment uses 4(color: red, yellow, cyan, white)* 3(shape: round, triangle, irregular graphics)* 3(subject emotions: happy, neutral, sad)mixed experiment design. The color and shape of the stimulus are within-group variables, the subject's emotion is between-group variables. The dependent variable is the same as in the first experiment, and the cumulative score is also determined for each condition. The results showed:(1)The main effects of the color and shape of the stimuli are extremely significant. In the pairwise comparison, the red and yellow stimuli have higher scores for judging the size, and the cyan and white stimuli have lower scores, the triangle stimuli have higher scores, and round stimuli have lower scores.(2)The subject's emotions will also affect the perception of the size of the stimulus, and this influence will have a mutually restrictive relationship with the objective factors such as the shape of the stimulus.Under the conditions of triangles and circles, the score of size judgment is not significant under different emotion groups, and the score of the size judgment of irregular graphics under sad conditionsis higher than other emotions.(3)The interaction of stimulus color and shape is significant. The red triangle score of size judgment is higher, and the white circle score is lower. The overall size judgment score of the irregular shape is higher than the circle, but the red circle size judgment score is higher than the white irregular shape.(4)The interaction between the stimulus color, shape and subject's emotion is significant. The size judgment scores of different colors and different shapes are significantly different under various conditions.Under sad conditions, the size judgment scores of red, yellow and cyan irregular graphics are higher.Conclusions:(1)The color and shape of the stimulus will affect the perception of size, and the influence of the two is mutually restrictive.Red,yellow and strongly dilated stimuli are more easily perceived as larger.Red,yellow and strongly dilated stimuli are more easily perceived as larger.(2)The subject's emotion and the shape of the stimulus will affect people's perception of size.Shape has a significant effect on size perception under different emotional states, and emotion only has a significant effect on size perception under irregular graphics conditions.(3)The perception of size is the subjective impression of the subject on objective stimuli, which is influenced by two factors, subject and object.Shape and color have a strong influence on size perception, and emotions have a relatively weak influence on it,which is more dependent on changes in other two conditions.
