The South China Sea dispute lasted for a long time until it became a hot hot issue in the region in the 1970 s.Around the sovereignty dispute, there were some typical crises such as the 1974 Sino-Vietnamese naval battle, the 1995 Meiji Reef Incident, the 2001 Sino-US collision incident and the 2012 Huangyan Island incident. With its rich experience in crisis management, the United States used to intervene the crisis and influence the situation to favor the development of the United States.Although the United States is not a party to the crisis other than the Sino-US collision incident.it is the biggest external factor that affects the development of the crisis. Therefore,We cannot ignore the factors of America when what to get a comprehensive analysis of the South China Sea crisis incident. From the perspective of crisis management, analyzes the strategic considerations, positions, and actions of the United States in the past crisis events, which is of great significance to the future crisis in the South China Sea.The United States' involvement of the crisis with a third-party role has had an important impact on the development and evolution of the South China Sea issue. With the intervention theory, deterrence theory and prospect theory, the United States has constructed a unique model of intervention in the South China Sea crisis as a theoretical support for its own external intervention and found a legality and feasibility plan for its political intervention in the South China Sea crisis. From the specific crisis incidents, although the United States stated that it did not hold a position on the dispute over the South China Sea,it used a combination of political, military, and economic means to influence the development of the crisis. In the past crisis events, the United States' position and actions are not the same. The US intervention in the South China Sea crisis is in line with its interests in the South China Sea.The adjustment of the US's policy in South China Sea is subordinate to the Asia-Pacific policy, link to self interest adjustments, the evolution of China national strength and the South China Sea policy, and the evolution of the strategic pattern in the Asia Pacific region. In essence, the United States intervention in the South China Sea crisis is a selective intervention based on prospects. The United States does not want to provoke war.Maintaining the controllability of the crisis is the basic premise of American intervention. On this basis, the United States adopts intervention measures to seek The realization of the greatest strategic interest is the basic strategic goal of crisis management in the South China Sea.The United States' involvement in the crisis is a consideration of its own interests and a trade-off recognition of actions and benefits.Since the end of the Cold War,the United States has increased its emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region and continuously deepened its involvement in the South China Sea.Its South China Sea policy position has undergone changes from "not holding positions" to "actively intervening" and "actively intervening." With the deepening involvement of the United States, the cost that the United States has to pay is also increasing. The United States is well aware that it is easy to fall into a dilemma in crisis intervention. Therefore,it constantly seeks new allies and builds a multilateral system based on “a coalition+partner country”.We will focus on promoting the "Aseanization" of the South China Sea issue. This is the basic path for the United States to intervene in the crisis in the South China Sea.This paper analyzes the history of the United States intervention in the typical crisis in the South China Sea,sums up the main interests of the United States in the South China Sea,takes crisis management incidents as an entry point, and analyzes the United States interventions in the South China Sea crisis to further clarify the US crisis management model and characteristics in the South China Sea.If we need to find a way to manage the future crisis in the south China sea,we should provide reference for the intervention of the United States.
