"People" And "things" Are Parallel: Wu Zelin's Academic And Life

Mr.Wu zelin(1898-1990)was a native of Changshu,Jiangsu province.He is a famous ethnographer,sociologist,anthropologist and folklorist in China.He graduated from Tsinghua academy in his early years.He went to the United States to study in 1922,doctorate in 1927.After graduation,he traveled around Europe before return to China.He has been a professor at The Great China University,southwest of the general assembly and Tsinghua university.After liberation,he worked respectively in the Minzu College of China,Southwest Minzu College and South-Central Minzu College.And he also as a researcher at the Ethnology Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,He was employed as an adjunct professor in Nankai university and Guizhou minzu College,He is also the consultant of national academic groups such as Chinese Sociological Association,Association of Chinese Ethnology,Chinese society of anthropology and Chinese society of folklore.Research on Wu began in the late 1980s.Research involving multiple disciplines,such as ethnology,sociology,anthropology and so on,the sorting and excavation of the academic bonanza left by the elder is still unfinished.In recent years,the research results published in succession involve academic thought and theory,academic thought process and so on,it lays a good foundation for us to have a deeper understanding of Wu zelin and his thoughts.Although there are commemorative articles on Mr.Wu zelin every year,the number of them is not optimistic,and the authors of these articles are mainly students and colleagues of Mr.Wu,and the research results are single and lack of comprehensiveness.In general,it is not enough to excavate Mr.Wu zelin's outstanding contributions in sociology and ethnology,and it is not enough to find the position and height that Mr.Wu zelin should have in ethnology development.In addition,the author believes that there are two deficiencies in the past research on Wu zelin.The first is that the previous research contents have not developed in depth enough.The second is about the classification of Mr.Wu's ethnology.Up to now,the research on Mr.Wu zelin is not ideal either in scale or in depth.Although the research angle is gradually diversified,the research content is not enough to develop in depth.The previous scholars' interpretation of Mr.Wu still remained in the historical context of historical materials to remove the false and retain the true work,and did not explore and summarize Mr.Wu's thoughts.Combined with the previous research achievements of Wu zelin and the careful reading and analysis of his academic works,the author believes that a clue runs through the academic research of Mr.Wu zelin's life,namely the pursuit of ethnic equality and unity.Secondly,scholars used to separate the study of southwest minorities by Wu zelin from the study of ethnology museum,and even through careful study,it will be found that scholars acquiescing that Mr.Wu's "ethnology museum thought" was derived from his "study of southwest minorities".In this respect,the author does not agree with him.The author thinks that Wu zelin's ethnology research should not be divided simply and easily,but should emphasize the ideological construction of Mr.Wu's ethnology museum.Therefore,when the author discusses this part,he will break the existing perspective of discourse and find his due place in the academic history with the study of" Ethnic cultural relics ".
