Personal Information Protection In The Application Of Face Recognition

Since 2018,face recognition technology has developed rapidly and been widely used in administration,finance,public security,transportation and other fields.The application of this technology can improves work efficiency and brings convenience,but it also has some negative effects.Especially the abuse of technology makes the personal information security of citizens threatened,and the damage results are often irreversible.From the current legal level of our country,the provisions of personal information are mostly embodied in principle,and focus on protection but ignore the use,fail to regulate the use of face recognition technology from the source.As a result,face information is widely collected,and the possibility of information disclosure and abuse is gradually increasing.It should be fully recognized that the protection of personal information is of great urgency at this stage.Under the premise of inadequate provisions of domestic laws,it is necessary to learn from foreign perfect legislative norms.At the same time,it is essential to make a balance between the development of technology and the protection of personal information.We should standardize the use of face recognition technology and refine the legal provisions to better protect and utilize personal information,especially face information.This paper consists of five parts: first,give an overview of face recognition.The advantages of face recognition,its main application fields and development trend will be described.Second,it will discuss the challenge of face recognition to personal information protection,especially face information.And expound the relevant content from two aspects: the risk brought by the technology and the way of infringement.Third,the paper will analyze the current situation of legal protection in China.It will elaborate from the aspects of legislation,law enforcement and justice respectively,pointing out the problems existing in the system.Fourth,this part will point out the different ways of the European Union and the United States in regulating the use of face recognition and protecting face information,so as to provide reference and ideas for the improvement of our legislation.Finally,this part will propose some suggestions to standardize the use of face recognition and the collection and processing of face information from the perspective of legal protection and industry self-discipline.
