| In his speech at the Symposium Commemorating the 120 th Anniversary of Mao Zedong's Birth in December 2013,General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “Seeking truth from facts is the fundamental viewpoint of Marxism.It imposes the fundamental requirement for Chinese Communists to understand and transform the world,and it also acts as the basic method of thinking,method of work,and method of leadership of the Party.” General Secretary Xi Jinping has stressed on many occasions that “Seeking truth from facts is the quintessence of Marxism,which stands as an important method of thinking for Chinese Communists.” It can be said that the Communist Party of China has always incarnated the Marxist quality of seeking truth from facts in their course of over 90 years of ups and downs,during which there are both successful experiences and lessons of failure.Regarding these experiences and lessons,the Party formulated two “Historical Resolutions” in 1945 and 1981 respectively,which are of profound significance in the history of the Party.The two “Historical Resolutions” mark the brilliant documents worked out with the wisdom of the whole Party under the guidance of the idea of seeking truth from facts and in the process of fighting against erroneous ideas.Their formulation process,main contents and profound enlightenment all embody the adherence to the ideological line of seeking truth from facts.Today,socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.It is the new historical orientation towards China's development raised by the Party in the light of the logic of historical development and on the basis of careful analysis of China's national conditions.The idea of seeking truth from facts,as the quintessence of the two “Historical Resolutions” and the sinicization of Marxism as well,serves as the most crucial weapon for the Party to move from setbacks to victory and from victory to victory.It is also the golden key for us to keep carrying forward the great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics today.Based on the two “Historical Resolutions”,this paper discusses the logic of the idea of seeking truth from facts in different historical periods and fields of Chinese revolution,construction and reform,so as to extract the positive and negative experiences and lessons,that is,people should always analyze and deal with problems on the basis of objective reality,adhere to the standpoints,viewpoints and methods of proceeding from reality and seeking truth from facts,and exert their upmost to restore what things are really like.Only by opposing such erroneous standpoints,viewpoints and methods as historical nihilism,historical idealism and metaphysics can we comprehensively grasp and implement the quintessence of seeking truth from facts,creatively boost the sinicization of Marxism,and make continuous achievements in the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. |
