The development of modern science and the change of lifestyle, affecting people's learning habits, people tend to capture important information to improve the speed and efficiency of learning, more and more learners like illustrations because of its characteristics such as vivid, easy to understand, highlighting and so on.Development of multimedia learning resources should comply with the development of the times, attaching importance to illustration design in multimedia learning materials,The current domestic research about illustration design stay in concluding the experiences, lacking of guiding rule from empirical research.lt is an urgent need to carry on empirical research on illustration design and build the theoretical system to guide the design of the illustrations in multimedia learning resources. Therefore, the study selected illustration design as the main line and explored the effective design of illustration of multimedia interfaces. The study based on the theories of dual channel, cognitive load and multimedia learning, the Eye Movement experimental method was the main study lethod and college students were the study objects. The aim of the study was to provide useful design rules of illustration based on experiments for the design and teaching application of multimedia interfacesThe main contents of this research were as followsThrough questionnaire survey. The study aimed at finding out learners recognition and design preferelces of illustrations. This study considered the effect of knowledge characteristic and display devices for the illustration design, designed three eye movement experiments:Knowledge of different difficulty influences Illustration Effect;knowledge types and illustration types matching;display devices effect Illustration Effect.through the experiments summed up the following conclusions:Illustration Effect(learning effects and eye movement differences between the illustrations and without illustrations)affected by the difficulty of knowledge, compared with the easy knowledge,Illustration Effect was greater under difficult knowledge. When designing multimedia resources, giving priority to the difficult and important knowledge with illustrations, using illustrations to provide clues for learning content and highlight the learning difficulties and Learning focus.Different types of knowledge match different types of illustrations lead to different learning outcomes and eye movements:factual knowledge with Organizational Pictures promoted optimal learning;conceptual knowledge with Interpretational Pictures roled in promoting optimal learning;procedural knowledge with Organizational Pictures promote optimal learning.Interpretational Pictures is the best illustration for understanding, and its main function is improving the quality of learning;Organizational Pictures 1s the best illustration for memorizing, and its main function is to increase the number of learning. When designing multimedia resources, choosing different types of illustrations according to different types of knowledge and learning objectives.Illustrations effect is affected by device type:Under computer screen, group with"pictures+text" behave more better in visual cognitive process and the learning effects than group with text only;Under Ipad, group with text only behave more better in visual cognitive process and the learning effects than group with "pictures+text".Illustration is only in the case of screen space enough to promote the learning effect, while the space 1s insufficient,Illustrations hinder the learning effect.Designing illustrations for multiledia resources should take device type and learning style into account.avoiding to use illustrations while screen is small.or reducing the amount of information to place pictures.
