Deeper learning is a novel learning philosophy designed to promote students' ability of knowledge understanding,reflection criticizing and problems solving,which advocates the promotion of the ability of higher-order thinking,sophisticated problems solving and meaningful learning through various learning methods,such as deep learning,knowledge building,relocation,problem solving and reflective evaluation.In the past few years,deeper learning has attracted the attention of numerous researchers around the world,and their researches are focusing on the interpretation of the characteristics of deeper learning,such as cognitive understanding,higher-order thinking,creative criticizing,reflective construction,active learning,etc.Besides,they are paying close attention to the deeper learning that it could promote the students' ability of cognition,emotion,communication and social interaction.Based on the combination of theory and practice,this study applies the methods of literature analysis,comparative research and historical research to try to explain the connotation and characteristics of deeper learning,in the meanwhile,this study take a practical project of deeper learning(Study of Deeper Learning:Opportunities and Outcomes,abbreviate as SDL,which keeps the lasting implementation time,decent effect and broad influence range)as a study case,systematically interpreted and comparatively analyze its progress,practical approaches and enlightens to China,so as to promote the popularization and localization of the theory and tactics of deeper learning in China.In the view of this study,the theory system of deeper learning embodied in the implementation of SDL is consistent with the concept of core literacy advocated in the new curriculum reform in China.Based on the analysis of the theoretical connotation and practice of the SDL,close attention should pay to those several aspects in order to systematically promote the Chinese deeper learning research: First of all,deeper learning theory needs to be studied on the basis of a deep understanding of its connotation and goal;secondly,deeper learning strategies and approaches should be taken as the focus of practical development;Thirdly,schools should fight together toprompt the practical effect;then,we need to improve the teachers' ability of deeper learning and teaching through systematically training;finally,evaluation system of deeper learning could be perfected,and be adjusted and strengthened through its practice,and ultimately promote the students to cultivate and fulfill the ability of deeper learning.
