TPR was proposed as a second language learning method by a famous American psychologist——James T.Asher who wrote in his book in early 1960s.This teaching method should be combined with the language and actions,teacher gives oral interpretation,while with the body demonstration,when students understand the relationship between instruction meaning and action can make the corresponding reaction.It has been proved that the children on the basis of understanding,through activities,singing and other ways to learn a second language,which not only conforms to the law of physical and mental development of children in the United States,but also can easily attract the attention of children and effectively improve the teaching effect.The author uses Heritage Elementary School of Georgia in the United States as an example.Under the premise of the Special class,applies the TPR to the Chinese teaching of the school.Six teaching themes using the TPR method are selected for analysis and reflection.It is shown that the method has obvious results in improving children's interest in learning,prolonging their attention,and deepening their memory in children's Chinese teaching.It is hoped that the conclusions and recommendations of this paper will be helpful to the volunteers in the United States who have the same course type in the future.This paper is divided into six parts,the specific contents are as follows:Introduction:this part introduces the reason and significance of the topic,and also the research background.Chapter 1:This part is mainly about an overview of TPR,introduce the specific teaching principles and teaching steps,and the applied research is both at home and abroad.Chapter 2:By analyzing the current status of Chinese teaching in the United States and at Heritage Elementary School in Georgia.Through the data statistics of the questionnaire,we analyze the necessity and feasibility in teaching Chinese with TPR for America children.Chapter 3:This Part Introduces the selection principles and selection results of teaching topics,and analyzes the Chinese teaching cases at the Heritage Elementary School.Chapter 4:Through the analysis of teaching cases,the author found out the advantages and disadvantages of TPR method in American children's Chinese learning,proposed teaching suggestions,and displayed a complete teaching design with the theme.Conclusion:Summarize the role of TPR in American children learning Chinese,also be innovative in the use of this teaching method,combine various teaching methods.And hope to put forward some feasible advice and suggestions,to provide reference for future Chinese teachers volunteer.
